THE LAST WAR
The year was 2080 BCE… The epic Mahabharata war that was fought thousands of years ago between the Pandavas and the Kauravas was thought to be the last. But generations later, everyone was mistaken. The descendants of the Pandavas and the Kauravas, known as the Pauravas faced a mammoth invasion by the Gandharvas. Agrasena, the head of the Paurava army faced new geographical and political challenges to save the land of Bharata. Would princess Charulata, the princess of one of the saptarishi city of Moenjo and Hariapa, be able to help him in achieving this? Both would be tested as they would go to their extremes with their only sole motive to save their mother land. Little did they realize that they would have to learn new lessons, unveil old secrets and make new allies. Would the Ancient Aliens, referred as the Sky Gods, really come to their rescue? Read on to know more in this Science fiction story with an Ancient Indian past and legend, ‘The Last War’.
GENESIS
We now travel to thousands of years in the future. Humans have traveled to far away distant planets in search of resources and rich minerals. That’s when they chance upon an alien object that turns out to be a source of unlimited energy. Can we rely on an extra-terrestrial object as the source of unlimited energy? What would be the repercussion? Read on to know more in the story ‘Genesis’.

THE HOLY TEMPLE OF EULA
A team of researchers went to an alien planet ‘Tethys Major’ that was inhabited by humanoid species. However, they were faced by a virus that was engulfing this alien planet. As all scientific pursuits failed, Hari embarked on a spiritual quest and sought answers to questions beyond the space time continuum. Read on to know more in the story ‘The Holy Temple of Eula’.
BLINK
In the regular space patrolling trips that looked like a mundane activity, Anna and her crew met with an imminent danger from an alien ship. But what Anna thought about her eyes as a curse seemed to turn out to be her greatest blessing in a blink of an eye. Travel into a wonderful space journey through the eyes of Anna in the story ‘Blink’.

RESURRECTION
In the distant future, humans have advanced well enough to live for thousands of years and are almost half robots. They have developed a technology that they believe can help them resurrect their dying star, the only Sun they have which they need for survival. The scientific community well spread across the solar system has been working on this much hyped project for a long time. What if our Sun was on the verge of extinction? And what if we could resurrect our dying star? Read on to know more in the story ‘Resurrection’.

Sambit's depiction of the Last War, the scale and wide angle perspective he uses brought for me shades of J. R. Tolkien and his Lord of the Rings view of the world, replete with its magic. All in all, Sambit Daspatnaik uses a simple and racy style in his narrative and this, coupled with the excellent and imaginative plots, makes this book a delectable fare and un-putdownable.
P B FLOWER Sci-fi Author
I enjoyed reading this collection of short stories and each one was simply brilliant. The first story titled "the last war" was in the theme of Hindu mythology and warfare. This was new for me and I thought it was mind blowing. The rest of the stories were mostly in the genre of 'hard science fiction' and were about aliens and intergalactic space travel. I loved these even more especially the one titled "Blink". All of the stories were filled with adventure and the narrative was impeccable. I would recommend this book to everyone. It was totally worth it.

The Last War: & Other Stories" was quite #magical! I walked right into the story from the very beginning and entered into a #scifi movie in my mind. The author well-researched his work and left me wanting to read and know more about the #characters and their lives. I truly was impressed with the "Other Stories" included in this book! "Genesis" was fun and intriguing, while "Blink" left me rooting for Anna! You will have to find out why when you buy and read this gem of a book for yourself! I promise you will not be disappointed!

An ambitious gem of a book with mystery inscribed on every page. This book is generous in its vision and fun to read. Likely to be a big book and soon a big movie.
ARUNDHATI SAHOO Author of the book ‘The Liberating Fetters’ and ‘Identity
A very unique read The story goes as a sequel to the epic tale of Mahabharata. Another war following the last war ... ? A very different concept and the narration is simple and very detailed.
SIMRAN BHATIA An Amazon Kindle Reader
There are perhaps many causes dying for, but to me, certainly, there are none worth killing for. The war in its entirety is the predecessor of peace and the Last War in the book is true to its words.

Fascinating and interesting fiction. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book - ‘The last war’ by Sambit Daspatnaik. A combination of a novel and a collection of short stories is a pleasant surprise. More than anything, I enjoyed the author’s passion about ‘Bharath’ and it’s culture/ treasure. Specifically, I like ‘The holy temple of Eula’. It shows the high spiritual thinking the author has. Best wishes for Sambit Daspatnaik to write more and more...
